Dr Peter Clark Ryan recognised in King's Birthday Honours List

Congratulations to ADAQ past president and life member Dr Peter Clark Ryan OAM, BDSc (Qld), MDSc (Qld), FRACDS (Perio), FADI, FICD, who has been recognised in this year’s King’s Birthday 2023 Honours List for his service to dentistry.

Peter graduated at the University of Queensland and served three years in the Royal Australian Air Force in Malaysia.

After his return to Queensland, he specialised in periodontics and went on to practise and lecture in perio in Brisbane and Sydney. He was actively involved in the development of the oral implantology field in Queensland. Dr Clark Ryan retired three years ago, after nearly 40 years of specialist clinical practice in periodontics.

Peter was elected President of our Branch in 1993 and chaired many ADAQ committees, including working on oral health promotion and public fluoridation. Throughout his career, Peter has been an active member of multiple specialist dental societies and study groups. As many dentists, he’s also an accomplished artist: his work was exhibited at the (now defunct) Brisbane Museum of Contemporary Art in the 1980s.

On behalf of ADAQ Council, members and staff, thank you Peter for your service to the dental profession, and again our warmest congratulations to you.
