COURSE OVERVIEW

A discussion of Occlusal concepts and treatments to develop a more thorough understanding of diagnosing and treating patients with problems caused by difficult occlusal problems.  The course will include:
A) A discussion and list of problems associated the occlusion
B) Examination techniques to assess occlusal issues and problems
C) Treatment alternatives and objectives
D) Treated cases including: severe wear, Establishing occlusal in unusual cases, Preventing constant restorative fracture and loss, TMD occlusal splints.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• Recognising occlusal problems and causes
• Assessing patients to understand occlusal forces and their effects on teeth and restorative dentistry.
• Treatment of severe wear cases.
• Changing occlusal schemes with composite resin and minor occlusal adjustments.

PRESENTER BIOGRAPHY

Dr Justin Boulton

Dr Boulton graduated BDSc from UQ in 1986, MDSc 1992, and FRACDS 1993. He went to London for 3 years and lectured at Guys Hospital and worked in practice. Started he's Prosthodontic Practice in Brisbane in 1997 visiting the Sunshine Coast one day per fortnight. He has been practicing part time on the Sunshine Coast then for 27 years. He has been involved in teaching Prosthodontics at UQ since 1988 and an examiner for the Masters program.
